Dieppedalle – Grand-Quevilly ferry: Rouen's nearest Seine crossing, Monday to Saturday

On the western edge of Rouen, a free river ferry carries cars, cyclists and foot passengers between Canteleu-Dieppedalle and Grand-Quevilly. It sails from Monday to Saturday only, starting at 05:30, and stays tied up on Sundays and public holidays.

Just downstream of the Pont Flaubert in Rouen, the Seine divides Canteleu-Dieppedalle from Grand-Quevilly. On the Seine-Maritime department's map this is the first and closest to the city of its eight ferries, which stretch from Canteleu down to Quillebeuf-sur-Seine. Cars, bikes and foot passengers all cross free.

The timetable is simple: one set of times, used from Monday to Saturday. The first sailing leaves Canteleu-Dieppedalle at 05:30 and Grand-Quevilly at 05:40; the last go at 21:10 and 21:15 respectively. There is no service on Sundays or public holidays, which Grand-Quevilly town council confirms.

At the busiest times, early morning and late afternoon, a boat leaves each bank every ten minutes. Around midday the gap stretches to twenty minutes or more. Three slots, one mid-morning, one mid-afternoon and one in the early evening, have no boat at all on either side.

Finding the two ramps

The ramps face each other across the river at Dieppedalle. Inforoute 76 marks the crossing with a single symbol in midstream, so the positions of the two slipways given here are taken from OpenStreetMap.

Just past the Pont Flaubert

The department's map draws this ferry immediately downstream of Rouen's Pont Flaubert, with Canteleu-Dieppedalle on one bank and Grand-Quevilly on the other. The other seven ferries follow the river's loops downstream as far as Quillebeuf-sur-Seine. No crossing time or distance is published. Next downstream on the same map come Val-de-la-Haye – Petit-Couronne and then Sahurs – La Bouille.

Using the Dieppedalle ferry as a visitor

  • Sundays and holidays

No ferry. The next weekday holidays are Wednesday 11 November 2026, Friday 25 December 2026 and Friday 1 January 2027.

  • Crossing on a Sunday

Further downstream, the Sahurs – La Bouille ferry runs on Sundays and holidays too, except on 1 May.

  • Live status

Inforoute 76, the department's traffic site, shows the status of the Dieppedalle ferry under Bacs et ponts, so check it before you set off. The site refreshes its data from 06:00 to 20:00, Monday to Saturday outside holidays.

  • Bikes

Bicycles travel free with their riders, and the department publishes no limit on how many a boat takes.

  • Hire cars

Cars and motorbikes are carried at no charge, so a rental car needs no ticket either.

  • Weather

Normandie Tourisme warns that bad weather can disrupt the ferries.

Part of a network of eight river ferries

The tourist board notes that some of the department's crossings do not open on Sundays, and Dieppedalle is one of them. The nearest Sunday alternative covered on this site is the Sahurs – La Bouille ferry, further down the river, which also takes cars free of charge.

The department prints one timetable booklet for all eight crossings, and page 5 is given over entirely to Dieppedalle, with a single table for each direction. Some other ferries are more complicated: Duclair – Berville-sur-Seine, for instance, has four separate tables, one of them just for Wednesdays.

For trips planned further ahead, French public holidays that fall on a weekday or a Saturday stop this ferry as well. In 2027 that means Easter Monday (29 March), Ascension Day (Thursday 6 May), Whit Monday (17 May) and Bastille Day (Wednesday 14 July), plus 1 May and 8 May, which are both Saturdays. On those dates, plan to use a bridge or a crossing that runs on holidays.
